Newark Man Gets Long Prison Term for Conspiring with Sons to Distribute OxycontinNEWARK – A 65-year-old Newark man, whose two sons were sentenced in April to long prison terms, today was sentenced to 135 months in prison for conspiring with them and others to distribute the drug oxycontin between Newark and drug dealers in Connecticut and Boston, U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie announced. U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano ordered Louis Gallicchio to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of his prison sentence. As part of his plea agreement, Gallicchio, a lifelong Newark resident, forfeited his home at 190-192 Smith Street. On April 25, Judge Pisano sentenced Michael Gallicchio, 37, of North Arlington, to 108 months in prison and his brother, Nicholas, 39, of Newark, to 87 months in prison. “Drug dealing and long prison sentences – this is not a proud family legacy,” said Christie. “But the sentences are appropriately long and should send a deterrent message to other drug traffickers.”
