COUPLE CHARGED WITH BANK ROBBERY

EDISON, NJ – Malik Dillard, 25, of Georgia, is being charged with the robbery of PNC Bank, located at 505 Thornall Road in Edison, New Jersey. The robbery occurred at approximately 1:22 p.m. on July 21, 2008 when Dillard jumped over the counter and demanded money from tellers. No weapon was used and no one was injured. Dillard stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene in a vehicle which was later stopped by law enforcement on the New Jersey Turnpike near the George Washington Bridge. Also in the car was Ciara Moore, 25, of the Bronx, New York. Both subjects were arrested.

Dillard is facing Federal bank robbery charges. Moore is being charged by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office with conspiracy to commit robbery.

An initial appearance is scheduled for Dillard on this matter at 2:15 p.m., July 24, 2008 before Honorable Michael A. Shipp, United States Magistrate Judge. Dillard is also wanted in connection with several other robberies along the East Coast.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun thanks the U.S. Marshals Service, the Edison Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police for their assistance in this matter.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Doug Herring of the Criminal Division in Newark.
